Thanks for entering the first UKEICC 80m contest of 2018. Welcome to the stations who had never entered a UKEICC 80m contest before - we hope you liked the simple format and the speedy results!   Here near Inverness I found conditions strange - the EI and GM stations were very weak for most of the hour, but some G and most Eu signals were strong, but buried under lots of Eu non-contest QSOs. This changed at about 2040z, when I started to copy contest signals much better - but this evening was tough as you probably also found. Congratulations to Graham G4FNL on winning Overall and the High Power section. This is an especially noteable achievement given Graham's location on the South Coast of England i.e. not at a great distance from the centres of activity like some of us! To work more than 100 stations is very good too (our SK friend and team member Steve GW4BLE was the first to work more than 100 stations in any UKEICC 80m contest)  Congratulations also to Thorsten DM5TS in second place High Power, to Allan SM5CSS on winning the Low Power section with Dave 2E0KVJ in second place, and to Bruce G4ABX on winning the QRP section, with Scott MM3AWD in second place. Your UBN file will be sent out by e-mail this morning (5th Jan) and Paul EI5DI will add more results tables over the next few days. Other webpages will be updated a.s.a.p. One or two e-mails mentioned problems with the N1MM+ UDC file. I had a problem here, after installing a new Windows 10 PC in my shack and forgetting to install the UDC until the last minute, which did not work. We will check that the UDC which the Rules link to is a fully-compatible one, hopefully before the next contest on 31st January. Please do not use N3FJP's Stew Perry template - it has the contest starting at 2100 and finishing at 2000! * * Advance notice - for several reasons, including to make participation by our contesting friends in Eastern Europe easier, the last three contests of this series (March and April 2017) and the first three 80m contests in the 2018/19 series will be from 1900 to 2000z, i.e. 1 hour earlier (as was the case in the first 80m series). The current 2000-2100z means it is very late in the evening if you live several time zones East of GMT. So - changes to the 80m contest times starting with the March 28th CW contest * * Next UKEICC contest - CW on 31st January 2018                               73   Chris  GM3WOJ, Paul EI5DI - Adjudicators

Checklogs received with thanks from YO6ODO, GW5NF Didn't think it would be easy on SSB from Mallorca only 4 QSO's a few QRZ's and many just not hearing me. Always easier on CW!   Or maybe I need to bring the amp out here to help!   Good fun trying! -- EA6/GM3ZDH Tough conditons tonight.  I thought the Quarantids meteor shower might help but think it made conditions worse.  SD worked a treat as usual--wish I were as good.  Happy new year to all and thanks again to the organizers for making this such an enjoyable contest. -- EI2KA Happy New Year -- EI5KF Vy poor condx at the start much better in last 15 mins -- EI7GY Good fun -- G2AA Great using SD Very busy band! -- G2BKZ Testing new linear but various things went wrong so only on for 20 mins. Then logging s/w froze... So apologies to anyone who lost pts due to my paper logging errors. -- G3UUT N1MM+ UK EICC file did not download corectly. Used Stew Perry version from N1MM+ but don't think it correctly added mult x2 for LP mode! -- G3YCH A first time for this contest. 5 watts was a bit of a struggle at times. -- G4ABX lots of qsb and the qrm was going up & down too! -- G4AFJ Conditions could have been worse but very hard copy. As I was not feeling too well I only went s&p for most of the test but I managed a short run towards the end I used SD as usual  which makes it so easy. -- G4DDX Better conditions than expected. -- G4EBK Much better than the last one, band open this time. Thanks to those who called in and a Happy New Year to all. -- G4ZVB Enjoyable contest. Happy New Year to all taking part. -- G5BBL love this contest -- G5UM busy -- G6UBM Good first half then got quite slow trying to find un-worked stations! Rather out of practice for this 80m stuff! -- G8FMC Loads of fun and lots of UK/EI activity, not so much from EU. N1MM+ just purred along .... -- G8X I miss these events, glad to be back again although the conditions seemed very slow tonight. HNY -- GI0AZB Happy new year to all -- GM3A Aerial in bits ! -- GM4M constant Deliberate QRM (tuning and later data) - good fun though in difficult QSB conditions -- M4J Fairly painful from this latitude tonight. A reminder of why I prefer CW! -- MM0DGI Forgot until 15 minutes to go. -- MM0GPZ Very noisy band with deep QSB here tonight -- MM1E really tough, extremely high noise level and not many hearing me through the noise. Score not correct, done with N1MM+ -- MM3AWD Quite a few new stations logged and nice to here non-Gx inter-EU stations working each other too, the contest seems to be growing in popularity. HNY all. 73 Martin -- MW0BRO Happy New year! 73, Sandi -- S57KM HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU BENGT /BEN/ -- SE5L Single operator unconnected. 73 de SM5SIC Göran -- SM5S
