Summer 80m CW Contest - Thursday 16 April 2020

Thanks for taking part in the first CW contest in our Summer Series. We had over 70 entries and, with your help and recommendations, hope to have even more next time. It's clear that 6-character locators can, at times, be a challenge to copy on CW - with over 80 QSOs penalised for getting them wrong. It pays to be careful. Also, before uploading, please check that your log shows 6-character locators - it can be easy to select the wrong option in your logger and end up with 4-character locators. Congratulations to the winners, and section winners. Once again, LY2SA tops the table following his win in the SSB contest last week - this time as Assisted. The highest UK/EI entrant is G3TXF, with GM2V only 5 points behind (1075 vs 1070) - a single QSO can make a big difference in these contests. G3TXF was the leader in "good" QSO numbers, with 80 - ahead of M0ARC and G4RCG with 74. In the Unassisted sections, the QRP winner was G4BWP with 50 QSOs, only 2 behind SF6W (LP), and 3 behind SD1A (HP). Next week's Summer Series contest, on Wednesday 22nd April, is FT4. On 27th April we have our final CW event in our 2019/20 80m contests. UKEICC 80m Summer Series CW 16/04/2020 - 6-character locators. Someone was abbreviating their JO91.. locator as JON1 which I found pretty irritating. (Though maybe that provoked enough "NR?" question so it didn't save any time in the end.) -- DF7CB Only 15 minutes time just before 19 UTC, it was fun, first time unassisted. -- DL1RNN A bit noisy tonight! -- EI7GY Good to hear Scotland and EU people but no GW or GI this time! Sigs generally stronger now. QRS helps. -- G0ATR Lots of QSB at times..... -- G0JJG Interesting event great as always to see familiar calls and some new ones besides. Thanks all QSOs and hope see you all again next time. Stay safe keep well 73 regrettably some DX calls did not give me a locator -- G3LRS AN INTERESTING EVENING BUT NOT BUSY.
