RESULTS - 30th November 2016 - CW

Many thanks to Simon M0VKY for adjudicating the last 2 contests. Thanks for entering this evening's CW contest. Here near Inverness conditions seemed good - it was great to be called by Olof G0CKV operating as 3B9HA (sorry I was so dull I did not realise it was you Olof) at a distance of 10566km - a real surprise. Activity seemed fairly good, with lots of European stations and a number of U.S. stations active. I think K1GQ may be our first-ever U.S. entry in a UKEICC 80m contest - thanks Bill. Congratulations to Gerard EI5KF, using his new 80m 4-square, on winning Overall and the High Power section, also to Allan GM4Z and Roland DL2OM in 2nd and 3rd places. Congratulations also to Elisio IK6BAK on winning the Low Power section, with Allan SM5CSS and Sergei YL3FW in 2nd and 3rd places. In the QRP section, congratulations to Jano OM3WZ on winning, with Steve M9A and Gert PA3AAV in 2nd and 3rd places. (A special mention of William G7PVZ running 1W from an FT-817 with no CW filter, who was a good signal at my QTH) ____________________________________________________________________________________ This evening's contest is the last UKEICC 80m contest of the year - there are no contests in December 2016, but the series continues with the next contest on Wednesday 4th January 2017 - on SSB. Our thoughts are with our UKEICC Team member and friend Steve GW4BLE who is gravely ill in hospital. 2nd Dec - We are very sad to report that our friend Steve GW4BLE passed away early this morning. Steve was one of the UK's top contesters and a great guy. RIP Steve. Thanks for your support during 2016 and have a great Xmas and Happy New Year from the UKEICC team! Checklogs received with thanks from : YL2TD, GM3WOJ Soapbox comments - 30th November 2016 - CW Fairly low rate and relaxed with few signals above noise level down here -- 3B9HA K2, 10W and 15m wire on a fishing rod out of the roof window (4th floor) in central Munich. Didn't expect so many QSOs; some guys have great ears! -- DJ1YFK First time I did join this short but very effective contest. Good activity particularly from the UK which is not astonishing. -- DL2OM IC-756PROIII - GPA-50 -- EA8OM Nice conditions with a few stations from USA -- EI5KF Nearly missed it late home from work ! -- EI5KG great contest always enjoy it -- G0MCV LATE STARTING, BAND RATHER NOISY DOWN SOUTH. -- G0ORH SD didn't want to send the correct exchange but 599 SN! It would be useful to auto set the macros. In spite of dire condx a fair bit of activity tonight. Good fun. -- G3ZBU Very fast qsb and high noise level made for an interesting hour. Enjoyed it and nice to hear so many EI stations on again. -- G4BYG Band quite good but dropped off at the end to G. Had little success running but very noisy. used SD which worked well -- G4DDX Nice to get a USA stn in the log, again a bit more activity from EU and across the pond -- G4RCG Very slow -- G4RGK Yaesu FT817ND. 1 watt and no CW filter. Now having a rest in a darkened room! Thanks to everyone...weak QRP on a winters eve on 80 - madness!!! -- G7PVZ Band was unusually quiet here and seemed empty ?. Never heard many UK or EI calls. Has propagation changed ? -- GM4M Super noisy.
