RESULTS - 30th September 2015 - CW

Thanks for taking part in the 2nd contest in the 2015-16 series of UKEICC 80m contests. Congratulations to Allan SM5CSS on winning overall and to Clive GM3POI and Roger G3SXW on winning their respective sections. We intend to update the Rules shortly to allow the use of UK and EI Special Contest Calls in these events. During the automated adjudication process we sometimes encounter submitted Cabrillo logfiles which have errors or omissions. The log submission robot will warn you about these and ask you to resubmit your logfile after correction. To avoid adjudication delays caused by one or more of these logs, we will publish *Provisional* results just after 2200z, to be followed as soon as possible afterwards by finalised results. In most cases there will be no difference between these Provisional results and the Final results. Correctly identifying and discriminating between Unique and Busted calls is one of the most challenging aspects of writing automated adjudication software. For example in this contest one entrant logged G3SWX - the software correctly identified this as a 'bust' of G3SXW, but it also has to consider that G3SWC was active in the same contest and that G4SWX is another (but unlikely!) possibility. We are keen to make our software as accurate as possible, so after every event we examine how well the process has worked and make any changes that are considered necessary. An apology - our e-mail sending software ran out of steam at midnight when trying to send you your UBN etc - we hope you have not received multiple e-mails (very annoying) - pse QRX for an e-mail in the next few days.
