RESULTS - 28th October 2015 - CW (Updated 1st Nov)
Thanks for entering the 4th contest in the series. Great to see better propagation, considerable interest from our contesting friends in Europe (possibly because of the earlier time) and a steady increase in activity from the UK and EI. (Some of the first contests last year were 'death by a thousand CQs'!)
Congratulations to Clive GM3POI on winning overall and to Allan SM5CSS and Graham G4FNL on winning their respective sections.
We received 2 logs after the deadline at 2200z which could not be included as entries, but we will include them as Checklogs to make the overall scoring more accurate. The new Team competition has attracted 8 teams, so should be good fun - there are 10 contests left in the series, so plenty of opportunities for new teams to build up a competitive score.
We are always looking at ways to make these contests more interesting, improve the rules or make the adjudication more accurate, so please send any comments and suggestions to team@ukeicc.com Three things we are currently considering are (a) separating out the Connected and Unconnected scores in the listings, (b) allowing the use of UK and EI SCCs in these events and (c) setting an upper limit on the Bonus points obtainable e.g. 10 points max.
For most of the contests recently, the 2 adjudicators and the adjudication software writer have chatted on Skype after the log submission deadline, discussing possible errors and improvements. We have also spent some time considering how the exchange could be altered to make it more challenging to log correctly e.g. altering the order of the 4 characters in the locator, but this would discourage casual participants and would make automated adjudication more difficult. We keep coming back to the straightforward 4-character locator exchange and the idea that those who work the most stations at long distances and log the information accurately will achieve the best results.
The next contest is on SSB on the 4th November. 73 Chris GM3WOJ and Paul EI5DI - Adjudicators

Note - 26th October - we have rescored the first 3 contests in this series, using improved software and in response to feedback from entrants. In almost all cases, your score and the results are unaltered, but you may notice a change in the Bonus points allocated. This is a result of improved accuracy in the adjudication software and the correction of an error that was made in the carrying forward of bonus points.
