80m CW Contest - 25th January 2023
Thank you to all those of you who took part in this 80m CW contest, and a special welcome to those stations who joined us for the first time. Congratulations to Nigel OE5TXF for the overall leading score, also to Allan SM5CSS leading the Low Power section, and to Graham G4FNL heading the QRP category with 81 QSOs. Here on the edge of Europe, the noise-floor was low and conditions seemed quite good. Greg W1KM sent in a welcome log to prove what 80m was capable of while still daylight at his QTH. Our Bonus Stations were busy again. EI5G (at EI7GY) had 66 QSOs and G5GEI (at G3WPH) had 86 QSOs. Quite a few QSOs were lost by some stations because of bad locators in the log. It is useful to have a Locator Map of Europe on your shack wall. This will help you remember that JO02 is in the East of England, but IO02 is a "Wet Square" in the Atlantic. Don't forget to tell your radio friends (and your family) about the UK/EI DX CW Contest on 29/30 April 2023. 73 Tim G4FJK helped by EI5DI, GM3WOJ, G4WQI and M0HDF

A nasty generator pump motor or whatever. -- DF5EN Good activity, good ears on the other site, thanks for alls qsos. 73 and bcnu in the next one Klaus DL8TG -- DL8TG Very good conditions, good signals, thank you for all the QSOs. Highlight was OX3XR! -- DM6EE Sorry for poor operating tonight--my CW is still weak but I'm working on it. Great to finally get the master, SM5CSS, in my CW log. SD worked great for me as usual--straightforward and reliable. Thanks Ei5DI. -- EI2KA Good condx and activity -- EI8CE Good fun -- EI8KN Good conditions for a change. -- G3KNU Contacts a bit thin on the ground Good condx -- G3RWF Very poor conditions at start. -- G3XTZ FAIR CONDX. -- G3ZBU Why does the QSB always take out the same part of a repeated locator? Lots of QSB tonight but good fun. -- G4BRK Keyer probs at start -- G4RGK Enjoyable contest for a small qrp homebrew uSDX transceiver 4W output. -- G5BBL SD used for logging SCP and CHF really helpful -- G6C Good low noise condx - lots of new stations.
